Was it meant to cut out where it did? I was in awe of how fast your fingers must've been moving to play that, clearly you're very talented. There I was just at the top of the page thinking you were doing a load of great classical sounding stuff and then BAM! some crazy guitar solo which amazed me. Nice work

i appreciate the feedback biles, but having great technique isn't the answer to everything. Give any idiot a handful of years to practice and technique can be acquired. But that ain't mean your playing is original...and that's where I suck at.

I have no talent for writing metal or rock songs, but a greater love for storytelling through film music. Now in this case I used to love to do nothing but epic, grandeur sounding themes all the time at one certain phase. Everytime my fingers touch the keyboard, cool epic and grand ambient stuff with no direction and thought just flows out. Afterawhile you kinda realize that that's easy but it's really a negative way to go if you hope to score films, becoz film scoring ain't just about writing whatever comes to mind and how YOU feel like it.

I think I've matured in a sense where my main focus now is being able to write identifiable cues and themes and not just cool AMBIENT music, and get very experienced with tonality and mood conveyance. Every movie has an identifiable cue or more. And when that particular cue is played in so many different ways, it's amazing how so many different types of moods ands scenes can be conveyed but YET the actual main identity of the cue itself is still so recognizable.

I also think epic, grand, nonchalant and sad feelings are personally easier things to tell than more than any other kinds in my case. Therefore I'm now instead focusing on being able to deliver in many styles possible, but yet with that 'whenever' needed balance between intellectual writing and purely emotional writing. I think there has to be a good balance of both in your music (however that depends as well), that I believe shows how in control you are of your writing, and not just let whatever comes to your mind flow out of you. That's a pure indulgence and of course ain't wrong, but that's a very juvenile way of writing in a sense that I feel it's time to move on and start putting alot more thought and sense into my writing.

Right now I'm currently trying to write more action stuff and learning more about counterpuntal and sacarstic kind of styles that can really mock a certain mood of the visuals of the film itself, becoz that's one area I'm really interested in.

Well, for what it's worth I'd sit for hours listening to you playing guitar like that - I still listen a lot to Deep Purple, Ritchie Blackmore etc. I don't worry too much about originality because the music I like has been around for years - I still love it and so do a lot of other people. Your stuff has an amazing sound.

Very clean playing. Like listening to some Sonata Arctica or Children Of Bodom. :D (Big Grin)

But I think that it was very Timo Tolkkish too (and that was meant as a complimentary. :D (Big Grin) Just listen to Soul Of a Vagabonds solo and you'll know what I mean)

LOL Timmo Tolkki doesn't sound like that at all, trust me I've been in the world of shredding for 3 years and I can tell you, there are good guitar shredders with musicianship, good guitar shredders with poor musicianship and both of bad. Timmo has always been on the "horrible guitar riffs" list.

Doesn't mean there's shredding that means it sounds like Timmo. :) (Smile)
